My Style

I seem to be spending a lot of time dreaming about how I would decorate my home if I had nothing but time and money. I haven't been able to figure out what my exact style is. I really love mixing styles and after taking a quiz today from HomeGoods, this is what it had to say:

Kari, you are an Elegant Classic

You have a refined sensibility with an appreciation for history and tradition in your furniture and your rooms. You value beauty, things that are well crafted, and family heirlooms. You are visually sensitive and understand how symmetry and a formal layout give order to a room, and hence your home is refined and calming. You are not taken in by the trends of the moment. You go for things with a timeless appeal, and appreciate old-fashioned virtues like manners and handwritten notes and making a home that is welcoming for others.

You value comfort. Your home is a warm and open friendly place, and you feel happiest when everyone is cared for and relaxed in your space. Elements like pillows, throws, overstuffed furniture, and good lighting set the mood. You may also enjoy layering different fabrics or mixing patterns to create a cozy effect.

Love this description. Thanks HomeGoods for helping me define what my style is

I have a problem

Pinterest.com is my new addiction and I cant stop. I have tried...but its no good. The plus side of all of this is I am making new recipes and getting ideas for Christmas. Get ready to be blown away by how adorable my house looks. Maybe one day I will start posting pictures of all the food I am making and the ideas I actually am putting into action. If you aren't on there...good, you might think I came up with these ideas all on my own!

Prom!

I got to go to Prom! Okay...maybe it wasn't prom but it sure felt like it. My hair was all curled, I wore a fancy dress, my date picked me up wearing a penguin suit (very handsome penguin suit) and my friend snapped pictures for me before I got in my white limo (or truck) and headed off to the big night! It was actually the Navy ball and not prom but I really think its just Prom for adults.

Man's best friend

This picture keeps coming to mind. How amazing is an animals love??
For those of you who haven't seen this picture, it is from a funeral of one of the Navy seals that was shot down in the Chinook helicopter. The Mans dog went and laid by the coffin for almost the entire service. Animals have such amazing love. This picture makes me cry every time I look at it, but I had to share.

Camping

I am not the most adventurous person but I actually went camping and tried kayaking this summer. I told myself I would try new things this year and that's exactly what I have been doing. Mom might even be a little bit proud of me for stepping out of my comfort zone. Now of course I am not becoming a true outdoorsy person but I'm giving it a try.

New Job

Back in June I started a new job. While it has been hard without the Taylor family I am enjoying doing something different. I love the job so far, the most difficult part is getting out of bed every morning. I don't think I will ever be a morning person. I worked for ACCO about 6 years ago and loved the time I spent at the San Leandro office. Its not exactly the same now that I am on the job site but it is still fun and I am learning a lot. I guess my parents were right when they said I have the mind of an engineer

Tiny little baby

Well when Frankie was born Mom and Dad decided they would fly back with me so they could meet their first little grandbaby. They were pretty smitten but who can blame them?! We poked her and stretched her out straight. (She loves being in a tiny little ball). She hardly cries and is so much fun to look at. I love having a niece!!! I just wish I could see her daily, i'd just kiss and pinch and poke and love her all the time! (Yes i know, I am kinda mean but she is too cute to leave alone)

I just love this tiny little nugget!

Going to the chapel of love

One of my close friends got married last night and it was a fabulous wedding. The bride was beautiful, the cake was yummy, and the guests were so fun! We danced all night, stuffed our faces, and hung out way past my bed time.

Love ya Tiff!

Frankie Jane

June 9th at 9:36 am

6 lbs 7 ounces

19 inches

Well I guess I am no longer the cutest Hammond. I will happily give my title to my new little niece Frankie. Im so sad I am in california, but I get to see her saturday morning. Meg and baby are doing great from what I hear, Erik is tired but is loving every minute of being a dad so far. Since they do not have a blog I feel it is my right to share these pictures to all my readers. There is no doubt Frankie will be a spoiled little stink but I will fully admit to being apart of that. I promise you will get more pictures when I get to utah, but here is a taste from the ones Erik sent.

Filoli

Mom planned a special day for us while I was in town. We went to Filoli with out cameras. I have been asking to go for months now and it was absolutely beautiful. One of the few remaining estates from the early 1900's in the Bay area. The house is HUGE and the gardens are never ending. It has like 120 acres of land ( we only saw a very small part). Many movies were filmed here and I felt very lucky to get to go. Thanks Mom!
